Traveller Policy

Traveller Accommodation Unit


The Traveller Accommodation Unit manages Traveller related issues including Traveller accommodation needs, the management / control of halting sites and dealing with illegally parked Traveller caravans.  The unit is supported in its work by the Traveller Accommodation Consultative Committee whose members are drawn from housing officials, public representatives and representatives of the travelling community.

Traveller Accommodation Plan

At the request of the Minister of the Environment, Community and Local Government, under the Housing (Traveller Accommodation) Act, 1998, the preparation of the 2019 to 2024 Traveller Accommodation Plan is currently underway.

The 2014 to 2018 Traveller Accommodation Plan will continue in operation until 1st July, 2019.

St. Anthony's Park Group Housing Scheme


The St. Anthony's Park group housing scheme in Hollyhill was officially opened on Monday the 15th June 2015.  It replaced the former 12 bay St. Anthony's Park halting site which was also in Hollyhill.  The new St. Anthony's Park group housing comprises of sixteen units consisting of seven houses and nine bays. As part of the development a Community Building was also constructed.
