Works are continuing on the Morrison’s Island Public Realm and Flood Defence Scheme.

This week works began on the construction of the next phase of the scheme, from the junction of Parliament Bridge to Holy Trinity Church.  A road closure has been put in place at this location to facilitate the works and traffic diversions are in place. Pedestrian access has been maintained.

When completed, the scheme will deliver significant public realm upgrades along Morrison’s Quay and Fr. Matthew Quay between Parliament Bridge and Parnell Bridge, including improved streetscape, a wide riverside walkway, a new plaza at the eastern end of the South Mall and a redesigned Trinity Bridge.  The scheme will also provide flood protection for up to 400 city centre properties.

Service diversions and works on the new Parnell Plaza are ongoing, and the cleaning and repointing of the quay walls at the Parnell Plaza/South Mall end of the scheme is well underway.

It is expected that works will be completed by mid 2026.
