Live traditional Irish music from the experienced dance band, the Cork Trad Trio who have featured at Cork and Warwick (UK) Folk Festivals and recently at Naomhóga Chorcaí’s annual Céilí.

At the Afternoon Ceílí Mór we will be dancing the Sliabh Luachra, Ballyvourney Jig, Merchant and Connemara sets, the Siege of Ennis, the Walls of Limerick, Peeler and the Goat, the Highland Fling and Haymakers Jig. Members of the band are John Mitchell on flute, Garry Cronin on fiddle, Tomás Walsh on accordion and on piano, Mick Willis.

'Caller' for the afternoon will be dance teacher William (Hammy) Hammond. Hammy teaches set dancing at Club Ceoil Ballyphehane, he is a great admirer of the dances of Sliabh Luachra and set dances collected by Timmy ‘The Brit’ McCarthy.

Everyone invited to take part, no experience necessary. Dancers will be guided through the parts of each dance with the help of experienced dancers on the floor.

So get on down to the Céilí Mór at Cork City Hall and bring your dancing shoes.
