Cork City Food History Tour takes you on a walking tour of the city centre with food tastings along the way. Visit the English Market, Butter Museum, Crawford Art Gallery with stops for food tasting and chat. This is a walking tour of Cork city with commentary on the food and drinks history of the city going back to Viking days. Meet the Producers Family Bus Tour

Experience Cork's Food Culture on this 3-stop producers tour by bus. First you will visit a working dairy farm in Blarney, where you will see where the cows get milked, hear all about life as a farmer, and sample some cheese from a local cheesemaker. We will make a quick play stop to Blarney Woolen Mills playground. Next up you will visit an orchard, see bee hives for pollination and sample some delicious apple juice. Our last stop is to a Beekeeper, where you will hear all about beekeeping and taste their delicious honey with Cork cheese. Finally everyone will enjoy a Glenilen yoghurt on the way back to the final stop, The English Market, a haven for Cork producers.

Join University College Cork's food and culinary historian, Regina Sexton, for a city food culture walking tour of Cork City. The tour will highlight the importance of food in shaping the city's social, economic and cultural profile through time. Starting at the Old English Market on the Grand Parade, the tour will trace Cork's food and culinary history from the medieval period through to the present day. We will walk the different eras putting substance to the claim that Cork is the Real Food Capital of Ireland. The tour will run to c. 2 hours and will cover the Grand Parade; the North Main Street; Corn Market Street; Shandon Street and the Butter Market and St. Patrick's Street. Enjoy a fascinating family-friendly tour and picnic at Glenbrook Farm with Brian McCarthy from Cork Rooftop Farm and Peter Twomey from Glenbrook Farm. Meet at Cork Rooftop Farm on Cornmarket Street, a positive example of the future of Irish horticulture, giving access to locally grown organic fresh food. You will then hop on a bus to visit Brian’s 60acre organic vegetable farm in Whites Cross, which aims to ‘feed’ Cork.  Half an acre has been dedicated to growing many varieties of beans and  Brian will share why this is beneficial for soil health and for healthy diets. Next you will meet Peter Twomey, owner of Glenbrook Farm, to hear about the free range pig enterprise he developed from a hobby. Finally, you will be dropped back to Cork’s Rooftop Farm where you take home some seeds to grow your own vegetables, and Glenilen yoghurts.

Cork Wine Pairing Challenge & Tasting

The Irish Examiner’s senior food writer Joe McNamee enlists some of Cork’s top sommeliers for a special food and wine pairing challenge. The goal is to find the best wines to pair with tasters of premium produce from the county of Cork. The audience, who get to taste every wine and its matching food, will act as judges to decide the best pairing. Participants include MacCurtain Wine Cellar, L’Atitude 51, The Glass Curtain, Paradiso, Black Pig, Franks and special guests.
