The Old Brigade: The Rebel City's Firefighting Story 1900-1950

The-Old-Brigade-front-and-back-covers

The Old Brigade, by local historian and former Cork City Fire Brigade member Pat Poland tells the story of the Burning of Cork from the fire service viewpoint, with unique details of their staff, the type of equipment deployed and the tactics used.

Pat says that the information for this book was acquired over many years of visits to the Cork City and County Archives, when every copper-plate manuscript relating to Cork Fire Brigade was consulted and transcribed into ten large notebooks.

It is available to buy in Waterstone’s Cork City branch (69 St. Patrick's Street), and on eBay.
